Shimano Twin Power Spinning Reel

What our customers are saying:

"SMOOTHER THAN BUTTER"

"Sensational reel. Paired with my t&c rod I use it for all my Ned rig fishing. Just brilliant." - JC on Jan 07, 2022

Based on our 2015 Twinpower, Shimano have come up with the Twinpower XD (eXtreme Durable). As its name suggests, the gears used in the XD are 70% stronger than the 2015 Twinpower. This new level of strength can only be achieved from high precision processing technology during manufacturing which increases the hardness of the pinion gear material without increasing gear size. The new Twinpower XD also features X-Protect, the latest waterproof technology utilizing Labyrinth structure thus improving the reel's water resistance. The labyrinth structure is a new design concept for reel body. Additional structure were added to improve water resistance and rigidity of the body frame. To top it off, Twinpower XD features enhanced Carbon drag washers with improved durability. This is simply one of the best pound-for-pound fishing reels Shimano have ever made!
  • Bearings: 9/1

So what do all these letters and numbers mean? I hear you say...

Let's try explain things here:

  • PG - Power Game, larger handle
  • BFS = Bait (Baitcaster) Finesse System
  • DC = Digitally Controlled (fool proof!) casting system
  • C = Compact body, slightly smaller than the standard
  • HG = High Gear, faster retrieve than the standard
  • XG = Extra Gear... even faster than the HF version, these letters don't determine size
  • S = Shallow spool, ideal for braid
  • DH = Double Handle
  • Ci4 = A lightweight material!
  • MGL -Magnumlite, a reel with components, often spool made from a lighter metal than others, 30% lighter than Ci4!
  • F or R = If the model name has F or R at the beginning, this is Front or Rear drag. The letter following the F determines the release age, so FK is newer than FJ. A little like the old car number plate system.
  • 1, 2, 3000 etc = Determines the size which goes up with the number although the 2500 and 3000 are the same size, just the 3000 has a larger spool and sometimes different shaped handle... YES I know it is a bit confusing, but hopefully this helps a little in choosing the perfect reel for you.
